BOOK WEEK SCOTLAND 2017
Book Week Scotland is a week-long celebration of books and reading that takes place every November. We have a number of special events at Orkney Library & Archive this year so come along and join in. Monday 27 November Chris Brookmyre - 7pm Scottish crime author Chris Brookmyre returns to Orkney Library & Archive to speak about his latest novel Places in the Darkness and the short story he contributed to this year’s Bloody Scotland compilation. Tickets for this event are FREE but booking is essential. Tuesday 28 November Scribbles in the Margins: The Eternal Delight of Books - 7pm Daniel Gray in conversation with Ron Ferguson to discuss his love of books and reading. Tickets for this event are FREE but booking is essential. Thursday 30 November Hurricane Book Club - Season 3 - 6pm Launch event for the 2018 season of Hurricane Book Club which is a collaboration between the publisher Pan MacMillan and Orkney Library & Archive. Thursday 30 November Lin Anderson - 7pm Scottish author Lin Anderson will be speaking about her popular crime series featuring the forensic scientist Rhona Macleod and discussing the short story she contributed to this year’s Bloody Scotland compilation. Tickets for this event are FREE but booking is essential. Saturday 2 December Yap & Yarn - 11am - 1pm Our library knitting group will be meeting in the foyer from 11am - 1pm. Sessions are very informal and everyone is welcome to come along and join in. Saturday 2 December Tea and Bannocks - 2.30pm Food blogger and writer Rosemary Moon will be making bannocks and discussing local recipes including the use of  beremeal from Orkney’s Barony Mill. Tickets for this event are £2 and booking is essential.
