Orkney Library & Archive Reading Groups

 

The Kirkwall Lunchtime group meets on the first Wednesday of the month at 1pm, usually in The Carnegie Room upstairs. This group celebrated its fifth birthday in November 2009. For a complete list of titles read, click here.

 

The Lunchtime Reading Group is reading The suspicions of Mr Whicher by Kate Summerscale for the meeting on 7 April at 1pm in the Carnegie Room. Come along to discuss the book and rate it.

 

Monday Night Murders are held on the second Monday of each month at 7pm in The Carnegie Room. This reading group concentrates on books for crime lovers. The current title being read is Whip hand by Dick Francis. This will be discussed on 12 April 2010. For the complete list, click here.

 

The Stromness Group has been meeting since April 2005 and their evening meetings start at 7pm on the last Thursday of the month in the Stromness Library. For a list of titles they have read and will be reading, click here.

 

The next title to be read with the Stromness Group is Family Matters by Rohinton Mistry on Thursday 25th March at 7pm.

 

  • Tea, coffee and often 'goodies' are provided. For the Kirkwall group you are encouraged to bring your lunch.

  • We have author visits on occasion and film tie-ins where possible.

  • Each session lasts about an hour.
