Kirkwall Library

The library service provides access to over 145,000 items. Books can be borrowed for a period of 4 weeks with further extentions available provided the book has not been requested by another reader. In addition to written materials you can choose from over 900 Talking Books, 1200 Music CDs and a selection of classic movies on DVD. We have an extensive selection of reference books and our staff are always on hand to assist you in tracking down whatever you require. If the book you want is not available we offer an inter library loan service through which you can borrow books from libraries throughout the country. More information...

There is a comfortable seating area where visitors can read our wide range of newspapers and magazines, and a hot drinks machine is available in the foyer.
