Orkney Library & Archive holds many events, groups, meetings and exhibitions throughout the year so whether you live in Orkney or are just visiting you should find something of interest. Many of our events are even covered live through our Twitter and Facebook pages so you can join in from wherever you are in the world. Other forthcoming events are:  24th April - 3rd December 2017 Read the Past - Imagine the Future This seven month Scottish national reading promotion was launched in April at Orkney Library & Archive by Scottish crime author Lin Anderson to coincide with the Year of History, Heritage and Archaeology. The ongoing promotion will include a wide range of fiction and non-fiction that celebrates Scotland's rich heritage, history and culture of writing and reading. Library users can also enter a competition to win a £50 book token by submitting a book review, either by filling in a postcard in the library or on Twitter using the hashtag #ReadThePast17. 16 September 2017 Saturday Slaughters Book Club - Kirkwall Saturday Slaughters Book Club is our regular library reading group for crime fiction. The group meets in the Carnegie Room at 2.30pm. Find out more on our Book Club page. 30 September 2017 Saturday Book Club - Kirkwall Saturday Book Club is our regular reading group which reads a wide selection of fiction and non-fiction. The group meets in the Carnegie Room at 2.30pm. Find out more on our Book Club page. 14 October 2017 Dog-Friendly Book Club - Kirkwall We are having a one-off Dog-Friendly Book Group meeting to discuss Miranda Hart’s book Peggy & Me. The group meets in the foyer at 2.30pm. 16 October 2017 Saturday Slaughters Book Club (As Monday Night Murders!) - Kirkwall Saturday Slaughters Book Club is our regular library reading group for crime fiction.
