Orkney Library & Archive holds many events, groups, meetings and exhibitions throughout the year so whether you live in Orkney or are just visiting you should find something of interest. Other forthcoming events are:  22 June 2019 Saturday Slaughters Book Club - Kirkwall Saturday Slaughters Book Club is our regular library reading group for crime fiction. The group meets in the Carnegie Room at 2.30pm. Find out more on our Book Club page. 27 June 2019 Hurricane Book Club - Kirkwall Hurricane Book Club is a collaboration between the publisher Pan Macmillan and a small group of Scottish libraries. Meetings take place simultaneously at the libraries and on Twitter using the hashtag #HurricaneBookClub. Follow @HurricaneBkClub on Twitter and find out more about the group at the Pan Macmillan website. The group meets in the MacGillivray Room at 6pm or join in online from wherever you are in the world. Find out more about what titles the group are reading on our Book Club page. 28 June 2019 Philip Paris - Kirkwall To mark the 75th anniversary of the building of the Italian Chapel author Philip Paris will be at the library to talk about some of the human stories behind the creation of the chapel. Come along to the MacGillivray Room  at 11am. This event is FREE but spaces are limited so please contact the library to book your place. 10 September 2019 Bad Bugs Book Club - Kirkwall The Orkney International Science Festival takes place in September and this year Professor Joanna Verron, Head of Science at Manchester Metropolitan University is bringing the Bad Bugs Book Club to Orkney Library. This unique book club is interested in science, specifically microbiology, and only reads novels where infectious diseases form part of the plot. There are five novels to read ahead of the meeting which are all available from the library. You can choose to read any one of them or all five of them and everyone is welcome to attend this FREE event.
